"CRUNCHY PIZZA TOAST"

Making "Pizza Toast" is a delicious way of getting rid of your old bread, or leftover meat and veggies, or if you are simply craving for pizza but doesn't want to order in.

As I always say in my posts, I love tomatoes, and I enjoy making "Pizza Toast" because this goes well with my Marinara Sauce and of course we use tomato sauce for our pizza sauce! Tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes!

Trivia: Did you know that eating tomatoes and tomato products regularly can protect your skin from sun damage? The LYCOPENE (the antioxidant found in red tomatoes) protects the skin from the sun's burning rays (um, acting like an edible sunscreen?). Aside from this, LYCOPENE can also prevent wrinkles, because it helps the elastic skin tissues from losing its tenseness. Awesome, awesome tomatoes.

Enjoy your "Crunchy Pizza Toast"!

"CRUNCHY PIZZA TOAST"

What You Need:

  • Bread of your choice (white, italian, french, wholewheat)

  • pizza sauce (combine 1 cup tomato sauce, 1/2 tsp each of black
pepper, sugar or splenda, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder)

  • shredded cheese of your choice (mozzarella, provolone, cheddar)

  • toppings of your choice (mushrooms, sausage, tomatoes, olives,
pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, sundried tomatoes, etc)

  • fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

  • olive oil (optional)

Prep:

If you are using sandwhich bread, put it in the toaster. For french bread, place it on the top rack of the oven on broil for a few minutes to lightly crisp it.

How To:

-Apply the desired amount of pizza sauce to each slice of the toasted bread.

-Place assorted toppings on bread and top off with a generous portion
of the shredded cheese.

-Place the slices of bread on a baking sheet, and drizzle each bread
with some olive oil (if using).

-Place on the highest rack in the oven or toaster oven and set for 2-4
minutes on broil.
[CHICHAY TIP: Watch the slices closely, as It only takes a few minutes
for the cheese to melt. ]

-When the cheese melts completely, remove the pizza toasts from oven, and serve immediately. The "Crunchy Pizza Toast" can be served with Marinara Sauce on the side.
